A tiny butterfly flutters above the secret garden found in this striking teardrop-shaped Indonesian Moss Agate. Pinks, purples and greens intermingle in the translucent field of this gorgeous stone. The delicate pattern of the butterfly wings were meticulously pierced from sterling silver using the fine blade of a jeweler's saw. A trio of hand-forged flowers are sprinkled along the bottom. A decorative beaded border accents each side of the stone.
This pendant measures 2-1/8" tall (including bail) and 7/8" wide. It hangs from a sterling silver chain in your choice of length.
All metal is sterling silver that has been oxidized, tumble polished and sealed with a protective coating.
About the stone: Moss agate is a semi-precious gemstone formed from silicon dioxide. Minerals embedded in the stone, typically green, form filaments and other patterns suggestive of moss. Moss Agate from Indonesia can be more colorful with lavender, pink, and red minerals mixed with the green.

Prudent Man Plume Agate comes from a relatively new mine located in the Alder Creek Mining district near Mackay, Idaho discovered and owned by Steve Howard, who sadly passed away in 2019.
The Prudent Man deposit produces many beautiful plume agate patterns in colorful earthy shades. The name Prudent Man is a tongue-in-cheek reference to an old 1874 mining law called the Prudent Man clause, which states that claims are only valid if "in the judgment of the mine inspector a prudent man could make a living by working it." Steve Howard jokingly asserted that the government declared him an unprudent man.

Aventurine is a variety of translucent quartz with abundant small inclusions. Light entering the quartz strikes these inclusions and reflects from them. This produces a sparkly appearance known as "aventurescence." The green inclusions in the stone are fuchsite, a green, chromium-rich mica similar to muscovite.
