Royston Ribbon Turquoise is from the Boulder turquoise mine in northeast Nevada. It was originally discovered in the 1970s by a Shoshone sheep herder who stumbled upon a vein of turquoise on the hillside while tending sheep. The turquoise develops in amazing veins or ribbons and the stonecutter enhances the beauty of the stone by optimizing the placement of the ribbon. Production has been small due to the remote location and winter weather conditions which combine to make Boulder Turquoise valued for both its beauty and rarity.
