Laguna Agate is a variety of banded Chalcedony, a mineral of the Quartz family. Though predominantly scarlet, its layers may contain shades of deep red, milky white, yellow, gold and brown. The name Agate comes from the Achetes River in Sicily, where Agates were first found. Usually banded in layers, or stripes, some varieties have “eye” markings, or specks of color, some have fossilized inclusions, and others are solid. Called the earth rainbow, the concentric bands of Agate form in nearly every color the earth can produce, including a colorless form.

This triangle-shaped Purple Amethyst Sage Agate is set in a fine silver bezel with a thick wire border and five decorative balls along the bottom. The stone is a dark translucent purple with black dendrites inside (see second photo with light shining through). This Moroccan Plume Agate captures a colorful orange-red and yellow plume formation encapsulated in layers of agate. The agate surrounding the plumes is white and brown with colorless, almost transparent sections. The unique stone is set in a fine silver serrated bezel surrounded by a twisted gold-filled border. The band is a double sterling silver half-round wire band.
The bezel setting measures 1" long and 5/8" wide. The ring will fit U.S. size 7.
